STANDARD GRADE
CONTENT
ASSESSMENT
It is a feature of the Standard Grade PE course that pupils will all follow a common course, and are assessed according to their own ability. Pupils will be
assessed in their ability to perform the activities on the course (Practical Performance).
Evaluation involves the pupils observing other people’s performance, describing what they see, identifying the successful and unsuccessful aspects of the performance and suggesting possible improvements. Knowledge and Understanding involves the pupils learning the theoretical background to the activities on the course.
Practical Performance (50% of total mark) is assessed by the PE staff, while Evaluation (25%) and Knowledge and Understanding (25%) are assessed by an end of course exam
