Methods of Practice.There are several methods of practice which can be used to develop skill level. You will find these listed below with details of their benefits.
SHADOW PRACTICE: - TO WORK ON FOOTWORK/MOVEMENT SKILLS IN ISOLATION - TO FOCUS ON ONE PARTICULAR ASPECT OF THIS SKILL TO GAIN A FEELING FOR THE ACTION - TO GROOVE THE TECHNIQUE/MOVEMENT. COOPERATIVE PRACTICE: - TO DEVELOP A SKILL WITHOUT THE PRESSURE OF COMPETITION - TO REPEAT SMALL PARTS OF THE SKILL OVER AND OVER - TO WORK ON DIFFICULT/COMPLEX SKILLS - TO CONTROL THE LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY OF THE PRACTICE. PRESSURE DRRILLS: - TO INTRODUCE A LEVEL OF COMPETITION INTO THE PRACTICE - TO MAINTAIN/INCREASE MOTIVATION. - TO MAKE THE PRACTICE MORE DIFFICULT - TO CONTROL THE LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY OF THE PRACTICE - TO MAKE THE PRACTICE MORE GAME LIKE. PASSIVE PRACTICES: - WHERE YOUR OPPONENTS PLAYS A NON ATTACKING ROLE TO ALLOW YOU TO PRACTICE THE SKILL/TECHNIQUE - WHERE YOU MAY PLAY IN A DEFENSIVE ROLE WHERE THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TACKLE/INTERCEPT BUT PROVIDE A DEFENSIVE ROLE. ACTIVE DRILLS: - WHERE YOUR OPPONENT/PARTNER PLAYS MORE OF AN ACTIVE ROLE IN THE PRACTICETO MAKE IT MORE REALISTIC AND GAME LIKE. - WHERE YOU WOULD TACKLE/INTERCEPT AND BE MORE ACTIVE IN DEFENCE TO MAKE IT MORE REALISTIC AND GAME LIKE. SMALL SIDED GAMES: - TO PRACTICE INA GAME SITUATION BUT B ABLE TO CONTROL ASPECTS OF THE GAME - TO WORK IN A GAME SITUATION BUT INCREASE THE NUMBER OF TIMES THAT THE SKILL IS PERFORMED - TO IMPROVE DECISION MAKING SKILLS - TO IMPROVE PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. CONDITIONED GAME: - TO WORK IN A GAME SITUATION, BUT FOCUS ON SPECIFIC SKILLS - TO IMPROVE DECISION MAKING SKILLS - TO IMPROVE PROBLEM SOLVING - TO INCREASE MOTIVATION/ CONFIDENCE TO PERFORM THE SKILL IN A GAME. GRADUAL BUILD UP: - ALLOWS US TO PROGRESS IN OUR OWN TIME - EACH STAGE INCREASES A LITTLE IN DIFFICULTY. - PERFORMERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO MOVE UP AND BACK DOWN IF SUCCESS IS NOT ACHIEVED. - PERFORMERS CAN MONITOR THEIR OWN PROGRESS. - USED TO WORK ON COMPLEX/DIFFICULT SKILLS. |

- You will select 3 methods of practice and create a drill for each one that highlights the key factors of that method. It also should be progressive (gradual build up) to show how you would use more challenging methods of practice as your skill level (level of learning) improved. EXAMPLE: co-operative - 1 drill passive - 1 drill pressure - 1 drill Produce this as a poster using diagrams/pictures and drawings to help emphasise your drills. |
